Distant Stars are a 2-piece operating out of Melbourne and Caen. Originally meeting at a party under a Cathedral in Normandy Muriel Annic and Richard Payne defied the tyranny of distance and soon embarked on a trans global song writing project. It seemed appropriate that the bands name would be taken from the classic Ultravox tune : "..somehow we drifted off too far, communicate like distant stars".

Distant Stars est le fruit improbable d'une rencontre entre Melbourne et Caen.Muriel Annic et Richard Payne se sont rencontrés lors d'une fête sous une cathédrale en Normandie ,et ,défiant l'adage qui dit "loin des yeux ,loin du cœur" ont élaboré un projet commun d'écriture de chansons ,chacun de son côté du globe.

With a design breif to create something bright that lives and breathes in the spaces between the cold, the dark, the deconstructed and the minimal. The resulting tunes are somehow both primal and sophisticated, with contemporary Bass shudders , retro synth drones and those timeless vocals unbound by language or other useless constraints.

Le format minimaliste ,à la fois primal et sophistiqué,permet de délivrer quelque chose de brillant, qui vit et respire dans les interstices d'un son froid et des mélodies sombres.

A bit of warning. I bought the cd release and the packaging is hot garbage. The tray came unglued from the digipack. The disc itself is fine though, and the music is of course top notch coldwave! And the music is the most important thing. So yeah, be wary of the cd release, but absolutely buy this album! Matthew Bennett
